Hiring someone to fix things for you in your home can sometimes be expensive and frustrating at the same time.
This is why I started to have a passion for fixing and making things myself.
Besides being cost-effective, DIY helped me grow a passion for making new things.
I’m writing this blog because I just recently experienced a challenge in my home.
I wanted to do some painting renovation in my home and the guy I hired ended up doing a shady job.
That is why I took it up to learn how to paint and did the work myself.
I was so surprised by how it all turned out to be because it was amazing.
For this reason, I’m writing this blog intending to encourage you to embrace DIY as it can help you in so many ways.
Difference between widespread and centerset faucets
When choosing bathroom fixtures, keep in mind that you will have to make some choices.
There are many types of finishes and other different styles.
However, you may not be ready to choose between the various types of faucets.
You may not know what a widespread faucet is and not know the difference between it and a centerset faucet.
The main difference between a widespread faucet and centerset faucet is the design and how you install them.
For widespread faucets, they have separate handles. Neither are they connected nor mounted on a base plate.
On the other hand, Centerset faucets have a single unit as the faucet and handles are already connected.
However, in some cases, centerset faucets will have a faucet with two handles separately and a plate to mount them on.
Now that I have enlightened you on the difference between a widespread and centerset faucet, it is worth noting that these types of faucets also come with their pros and cons.
You will find yourself in situations where you can’t use both faucets interchangeably. Continue reading on this blog to know when to use a widespread and centerset faucet.
This type of faucet comes in 3 separate pieces together with all accessories necessary for installation.
You can use these faucets in bathrooms as well as kitchens.
These faucets are quite popular due to their attractive appearance and their versatility.
You can find them in different finishes and styles.
Since the handles are connected separately from the faucet, you will have many rooms for spacing things out.
While using the widespread faucet, know that you will need to use a spacing of 6-8 inches between your handles.
However, you can install your widespread faucet handles 16 inches apart as they have this allowance.
Note that not all bathroom vanities are in a position to accommodate the 16-inch spacing.
When it comes to styles, widespread faucets come in various styles. For instance, you can choose from farmhouse, modern and Victorian style among many others.
Easy to clean
When compared to centerset faucets, widespread faucets are the easiest to clean.
This is because there is decent space between the handles that makes it easy to clean by scrubbing.
Widespread faucets also have some downsides such as;
Space: There take up a lot of room
Complicated: They are a bit complicate to install
You can use widespread faucets on undermount sinks or larger sinks. You can also use them when you need a corner-mount faucet.
You can mostly use these ones in your bathrooms.
They have always been the standard type of faucets used in bathrooms for many years. They are a single unit with the handles and faucets attached to the base plate.
Since they are compact in nature, you can fit them in any bathroom sinks and they save a great amount of space.
Since they are one piece, you can install centerset faucets easily as you don’t have to deal with many parts.
Among some of the cons of centerset faucets are;
Not attractive: They are not that fancy looking
Not easy to clean: You can have a hard time cleaning them
You can choose to use centerset faucets in drop-in sinks or most pedestal sinks.
When choosing to do a DIY replacement in your bathroom or kitchen, you now know the difference between the widespread and centerset faucet and where you can use them.
Its much easier to fix things yourself instead of hiring someone to do the work for you.
The main lesson here is that you can practically fix things yourself at your home without having to gob through the hassle of hiring someone to do the job for you.
Lastly, I wish you all the best with your DIY project.
